This is the thesis project for PhD Thesis in Design Art, International Program at Silpakorn University. The case study area is Banglumphu with long history in the historical location. Banglumphu is one of the most interesting location for tourist with easy-going historical style and nice people along side the main river of Bangkok - Chao Phraya River. Most foreigners come to visiti most of the time especially in April for the Water festival at the hotest month of the country. In this present time we should prepare for what's coming.
This experimental thesis uses Banglumphu area as a case study. Banglumphu is one famous area in Bangkok. It located near Grand Palace and most popular historical destination in Bangkok. This area is a part of Rattanakosin Island. It has been conserved as historical site for tourism. Most tourists likes to stop by and enjoy the historic life around. This research uses 4 categories found in Banglumphu area to identified the area - historical architecture, religion, community and gastronomy. They are represented in geometrical shape as hexagonal, triangle, free organic form and circle respectively. All four geometric shape used in developing place identification (Place ID) or logo. In this research used monoline logo style to represent the area. The area has changed a lot since the new King has been crowned.
Minimalism is the main concept for this research by far. It used to combine in logo design and web design respectively. This concept makes the design look clean and in order. Some principle of graphic design has been applied to shape up the style of the web in order to convey the right message to audience. It hopefully helps online tourist gain sense of place in every places visited online through different media.
